The NEBOSH International General Certificate programme is classified into 3 units as follows:
- Unit IGC 1: Management of International Health and Safety.
- Unit GC 2: Control of International Workplace Hazards.

Course Preparation Duration
- The Face to Face Training is spread over a period of 10 days.
- Minimum total tuition hours: 80 hours.
- Recommended total private study hours: 53 hours.
- Total overall hours: 133 hours.
The Unit IGC1 is assessed by two hours, Unit GC2 is assessed by two hours exam. Candidates will be required to complete the GC3 assessment practical application. Candidate scripts are marked by external examiners appointed by NEBOSH.
Successfully completing the NEBOSH International Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate leads to Technician Membership of IOSH.
Delegates are awarded the Certificate on successful completion of three units; IGC1, GC2 and GC3. Units IGC1 and GC2 are taught units each assessed by one two-hour written examination. Candidate scripts are marked by external examiners appointed by NEBOSH.
International General Certificate (IGC1) is the core unit for all of the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, so to advance a NEBOSH Certificate you need to study IGC1 along with the applicable specialist unit and practical assessment.
If you have been awarded a NEBOSH International Fire Certificate, NEBOSH International Construction Certificate the last 5 years and wish to take another, you will be exempt from IGC1 and can simply add the unit (GC1) and practical assessment (GC2) to achieve the new award.
