There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification, however, the achievement of the NEBOSH International General Certificate or direct equivalent prior to undertaking the International Certificate in Fire Safety & Risk Management course is highly recommended.
Good standard of written English communication is required since the examinations are held in English.
The NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management course is split into three units of study, each of which is assessed separately:
- IGC1: Management of International Health and Safety.
- IFC1: Fire Safety and Risk Management.
- FC2: Workplace-Based Practical Assessment (Fire Risk Assessment).
Course Preparation Duration
- The Face to Face Training is spread over a period of 10 days.
- Minimum total tuition hours: 69 hours.
- Recommended total private study hours: 55 hours.
- Total overall hours: 124 hours.
The NEBOSH International Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management exam is assessed in three units: The IGC1: Management of International Health and Safety is assessed by two hours exam. The IFC1: Fire Safety and Risk Management is assessed by two hours exam. The FC2: Workplace-Based Practical Assessment (Fire Risk Assessment). Candidate scripts are marked by external examiners appointed by NEBOSH.
Successfully completing the NEBOSH International Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate leads to Technician Membership of IOSH.
Delegates are awarded the Certificate on successful completion of three units; IGC1, FC1 and FC2. Unit IGC1 and FC1 are taught units each assessed by one two-hour examination. Candidate scripts are marked by external examiners appointed by NEBOSH.
International General Certificate (IGC1) is the core unit for all the NEBOSH International Health and Safety Certificates, so to advance a NEBOSH Certificate you need to study IGC1 along with the applicable specialist unit and practical assessment.
If you have been awarded a NEBOSH International Certificate the last 5 years and wish to take another, you will be exempt from IGC1 and can simply add the specialist unit (IFC1) and practical assessment (IFC2) to achieve the new award.
